Mr. R.K. Pachnanda, IPS has had an extremely stellar career. An IPS officer of the 1983 batch, he was Chairman, Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (with the rank of Minister of State), Chairman, Haryana Public Service Commission, Security Advisor to CM Assam (MoS Rank), DG (ITBP) Indo-Tibetan Border Police, DG (NDRF) National Disaster Response Force, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata. He also served as the Addl. DG in charge of all airports in CISF, Addl. DG CRPF, as IG BSF, SP CBI and Assistant Director SPG. 
Ranjit,  secured a first division in Economics Honours from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and a Gold Medallist in LL.B. He was a practising lawyer in the Punjab & Haryana High Court before joining the IPS. 
He was awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He received several DG Commendation Rolls and a special commendation from the Prime Minister of India. He was head of the Indian Delegation at the UN Chiefs of Police Summit in New York in 2018, represented India in a symposium on International Terrorism at Lyon, France, represented India in the Counter Terrorism Programme in Monterey USA in 2004 and attended a seminar on Suicide Terrorism in Tel Aviv in 2003. He has authored a book Terrorism Response to Terrorist Threat in 2001.
